Administration - Document Templates
Velosity uses a Microsoft Word (.docx) template for Sales Quotes, Sales Orders and Packing Lists. The easiest way to customize is to start with a document you already have with desired layout, logo, etc. The next step is to replace static text with placeholders that should be replaced with real data when the Word template is converted to PDF. The placeholder names are different for each document type.

From the Detail view you can: 1) download the document, 2) replace it, 3) preview, 4) add attributes. From here you can also see the format of the placeholders that are used in emails and the template when a PDF is generated.

Using this view you can Add (upload) a Word template. Velosity supports various types:
PDF (attached to Smart Quote Configurations "by name" via Rules):
- GENERAL
- SPECIFICATION
- CATALOG
Word (Converted to PDF for viewing or emailing):
- TEMPLATE.SALESQUOTE (Sales)
- TEMPLATE.SALESORDER (Sales)
- TEMPLATE.PACKINGLIST (Shipping)
- TEMPLATE.TROUBLEREPORT (Service)
Word Tips
To ensure the PDF from the Word documents is as visually expected, ensure that the fonts are embedded as shown here.
