SKU Price Breaks on Sales Quotes
When quoting standard SKU (catalog) items, Velosity provides a comprehensive view that allows you to manage customer pricing while simultaneously monitoring your acquisition costs from suppliers.
!!! note "Configured vs. SKU Items" This page focuses on price breaks for standard SKU (catalog) items. For price breaks on Configured (Smart Quote) items, which use customer-defined tiers, please see the Line Item Price Breaks guide.
Using Item Price Breaks on a Quote
When you add a SKU item to a Sales Quote, you can access the Price Breaks interface to see available volume discounts.
- Add a SKU Item: Add the item to your quote line items.
- Open Price Breaks: Click the Price Breaks action button on the line item.
- Select Tiers: A dialog will appear showing the defined price breaks for that item. You can select the tiers you wish to present to the customer on the quote.

Parallel View: Cost Breaks (Price from Supplier)
One of the most powerful features of the SKU Price Break interface is the ability to see Cost Breaks in parallel with Price Breaks.
If you have defined Cost Breaks for the item under one or more Suppliers, these will be displayed alongside your selling price breaks.
Why this is useful:
- Margin Protection: Instantly see how your margin changes at different volume levels.
- Purchasing Optimization: Determine if a customer's requested volume triggers a better cost tier from your supplier.
- Negotiation Power: Know exactly how low you can go on price while still maintaining a profitable margin based on volume-based cost reductions.

Visualizing Price vs. Cost
In the Price Breaks dialog: * Price Breaks: These are your selling prices to the customer (defined on the Item or Customer record). * Cost Breaks: These are your buying prices from the supplier (defined on the Supplier Product record).
When both are defined, the system highlights the relationship between the two, ensuring that sales teams make informed decisions about volume discounts.
