Shipping and Fulfillment
The Shipping module in Velosity handles the final stage of the order lifecycle—getting completed products to your customers. Like many specialty modules in Velosity, Shipping is optional and can be enabled by an administrator to provide a streamlined fulfillment workflow.
The Shipping Workflow
Once a Production Order is marked as COMPLETED, the associated line item becomes available for shipping.
1. Creating a Shipment
From the Shipping dashboard, users can select one or more completed line items to include in a single shipment. This is particularly useful for consolidating multiple orders for the same customer into a single delivery.
2. Documentation
Velosity can generate the necessary documentation for your shipments, including: - Packing Slips: Detailed lists of what is included in each box or pallet. - Bills of Lading (BOL): Legal documents for the carrier. - Shipping Labels: Basic labels for package identification.
3. Tracking and History
Once a shipment is finalized (marked as "Shipped"), the status of the associated Sales Order is updated. The tracking number and carrier information are stored, providing the Sales and Service teams with the data they need to answer customer inquiries.
Mobile Fulfillment
Because Velosity is a responsive web application, shipping teams can use tablets or handheld scanners in the warehouse to: - Scan Items: Confirm the correct items are being packed by scanning their barcodes. - Take Photos: Capture images of the packed pallet or any visible damage before it leaves the dock, and upload them directly to the shipment record.
Configuration
Administrators can enable the Shipping module in the Customization Settings. You should also ensure that your Customers have accurate Ship-To addresses defined.
